Thanks. That does help a lot. Once we receive the consolidated 1099 we complete the Schedule D (and D1 if there are more transactions than what can fit on Schedule D) and report the capital gains on the 1040. Correct?

I filed my EAD at Texas office as i live in PA
Paper Copy reached on 04/08/10
Checks cleared on 04/15/10
text message with receipt number on 04/16/10
Soft LUD with date change on case status on 04/20/10
What's surprising is the receipt was issued out of Nebraska Service Center even though i filed at Texas lock-box as i currently live in PA.
My I-485 was submitted at Nebraska. Maybe that could be the reason.

I can fully understand your frustration as I am also going through the same situation.
How did you contact congressman?
I dont remember the URL..just google locate your congressman..
And enter your zip code, it will show you your congressman..just call them up, there will be someone looking after immigration matters.

Is the below template the one that you are referring to?
Name, Company Name, Case Number, Filing Date, Audit Date and Signature at the end.
Let us know about the address where it will need to be sent.
Thank you for all your support and assistance with Ron...
As the template is ready, I urge everyone to move and write the letter. But I am waiting for MMS reply as he has collected the details. So far I am not getting any response on this. Sooner you move, its better for you.

My labor certification (Traditional EB-3) is stuck in BEC since last 5 years. It is completely beyond my understanding why it took so long for BEC to process my case. Now everyone is rejoicing USCIS's decision to accept all green card applications, but I am paralyzed with the fear of facing another huge backlog on I-485 applications. One government agency sits on our applications for years and another government agency throws us further back in the line to cover up its blunders and guess what who pays the price: WE RULE-ABIDING, LINE-WAITING FOLKS.
Even if I get my labor approval before September, I will be among the last persons to get labor certification in spite of being the one with the earliest priority date. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than suing DOL BEC at this time. We may not sue DOL on their inability to clear the backlogs, but we can definitely sue them in their utter disregard to FIFO procedures (mind that some people with priority dates in 2004, 2005 have already got their labor certifications, but some with priority dates in 2001, 2002 are still stuck). When I read on their web site that they have tried to maintain FIFO, it makes me feel like puking.
I am also disappointed with IV's attitude towards the backlog victims. I do not remember anything concrete done by IV to address the grievances of backlog victims. Now that they have won the battle with USCIS, will they have time to look at us?

Please read more about what IV has done to BEC candidates before you get disappointed. Also please refer to one more forum/person who has helped you with your BEC. I understand your pain. I was in BEC for a long time and before even I got my labour approved I was laid off. LOST my PD by almost three years. I never felt like a victim. Started the process again and this is the first time I am able to get this close towards my GC.
For you the moment you get your labour approved you can file your 485 right away as your date will always be current. So why worry. Let everybody enjoy. Somebody here could be your brother/Friend.
You will get to file right away and you will get the GC sooner because the GC follows PD.

Just one point Slumdog -- You know, I have never seen anyone who rents, writing this kind of a story and justifying his decision. I wonder, why not? Why do YOU have to justify over here? Are you justifying to others or you are justifying to yourself?
You put too much stress on "quality of life". One can have a good quality of life in a small apartment.
I keep telling my wife that our apartment looks small only when she goes to department stores and shops like crazy. Our walk-in-closet is the nearest thing to a Black Hole. Mass density is so high in that area that pretty soon even light would not come out of it.
I strongly believe in "Simple Living, High Thinking". I can not say I implement it all the time, however, I try to keep it in my mind during my decision making process.
Slumdog, You have great writing skills.
"One can have a good quality of life in a small apartment...."
Not true - a small apt is a small apt no matter what. Yes, you can live with peace of mind in a small apt, and yes you can live happily in a small apt. This does not equate to quality of life. The "quality of life" in a 4 bedroom house with back yard is greater than that in a small 650 sq ft single bedroom apt ( if you put the same person who was happy in the small apt into the 4 bedroom house - even if his happiness level remains the same, his quality of life just went up)

My wife will be in US in December on H4 visa. She has an approved H1B 797 notice starting 1st October 2007. When she applies for H4 to H1, is that under the quota? My understanding is that her H1 approval has already been counted against the quota and the COS will not be subject to yearly cap.

Hi,
I called almost all of them and It seems most of them are already aware of our efforts - as soon as I asked if I could talk to an immigration person/legal specialist they said oh is it in reference to support for HR 5882, HR 5921 & HR 6039 and they said that they have already received a lot of calls but they would pass on our support for the bills to the congressman/woman.
So..looks like its working..

Good question.
The first point is illegals have to be paid at american laborer wages. They are currently dragging down labor wages. if the wage is monitored like H1b and set by the govt, enough american citizens of the 15 million unemployed, will take these jobs and illegals will have to leave.
Most people may not know, there are millions of American farmers, roofers, etc, who can't find a job because of illegals. We compete with americans at the same salary and with the disadvantage of visa overhead.
Not enough money? This is a big misconception and false statement thrown out by supporters of illegals. here are a few numbers thrown quickly:
a) It costs 1.5 billion dollars a year to put one armed soldier on every 100 yards of the border. Employment for 30,000 in the army.
b) it costs about 1 billion to deport 1 million illegals by plane. Do this for 2 years and enough will leave on their own.
These costs are trivial compared to a 2 Trillion annual budget and b) is a one time cost if we have a). Billions will be saved in welfare, housing, food stamps, education.
protecting the border is as important as fighting wars, which have already cost 100s of billions, if not more.
Will talk about H4 later, but the motto has always been - 'best person for the job' at legitimate American wages.
Mass deportations will NEVER happen. Its too damn expensive and a lot of moral issues come into the equation.
I agree that border security should be the first step before any sort of legislative relief is discussed for Illegal Immigration. There were 3.5 million illegal aliens in 1986 when amnesty was passed. Today the number is 12 million+.
While the border can never be made tamper proof, increased surveillance, smarter use of technology to prevent identity theft can make it difficult for anyone wanting to enter the US illegally and find work, here. That would reduce the incentive to illegally migrate here.
I am more optimistic for something positive to happen with Republicans at the helm than the Democrats coz to take a positive step, you have to be clear on your position. With an unprecedented majority, the Dems could not accomplish anything with regards to Immigration. All they came up with phony legislations, just to keep the carrot dangling. If they were one bit serious about tackling this issue, they would have started to work on the bill in Congress introduced by Guitierrez, last year instead of blowing hot air with a "Schumer - Graham" bill and a "Menendez" bill at the eleventh hour.
