I am new to SLR photography so I do not have any lenses or leanings to any particular manufacturer. My US$1000 has to buy atleast one lense to get me up and running.
I was going to buy the Digital Rebel but I am now considering waiting to see what the Olympus Evolt performs like. I need to have a camera before mid December as I am going on vacation.
Any comments? Is four-thirds here to stay?

I sent my app using USPS express mail (next day delivery) with online tracking/delivery confirmation. No issues with delivery to PO BOX.

I just received all the receipts for I-140/I-485/I765/I-131 from TSC.
As some stupid questions:
- I noticed a number above my name: A0xx xxx xxx. Is this an alien number?
- If so please someone explain since I have my PD on 04/24/2001 I never noticed this number (I might be wrong). It is something good or bad or what this number mean?
- Also, just to have an idea, after all are approved (hopefully without unexpected delays) how long until I have that plastic card GC in my hand?
- any small clue will be greatly appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, the 485 processing times for TSC are much shorter compared to NSC. My case is at the VSC which is still doing 06 applications. Is there a particular reason behind this or is it just the sheer number of applications that VSC receives?

EAD allows un-restricted employment so nothing to worry. Also take all the supporting documents then you should be fine. In your future employment letter, plz make sure that you have full time (in-definte) job offer. Do not talk about ur salary as per hr basis.

Has anyone claimed unemployment benefits in EAD in TX state after being laid off? Can you please tell whats the procedure. I do not want to get into the debate of whether UB can be claimed while in AOS state? I just need to know the procedure. Thanks.

So, this so called nice card...how does it come?
I know its by USPS , but do they need you to sign or something... ?when you get the cover or package, ...or will it be sitting in the mail box one fine day sometime after ones case is approved ?
I might be out of the country perhaps when the card comes, (if I am lucky and my case is attended to by the authorities in July) .... (I will come back on AP)
Intially I was thinking of putting a hold on my mail in the post office...but my lawyer said that USPS sometimes returns mails from USCIS (which could be H1, EAD, AP, GCs, etc...)
So now am thinking I will request my neighbour to hold my mail for me....but am wondering if a signature is needed if the card comes during my absense....

Yes, you can Travel as long as the H1 Visa Stamping in Un-Expired,

No need to worry if your employer is consulting company. If so, then in reply to USICS mention that you are employed by employer, but works/worked on different client sites for them which are in different states.
Keep all your previous LCA ready or better attach copies of all with your reply. Not a big deal.
I think its not a difficult RFE to respond. Consult your attorney for formal reply.

Guys,
Your help/guidance is needed on this strange situation.
I am still in India and I have got my H1B1 approved thru one employer. I am waiting on few documents from my employer who is in US. I am still waiting for these documents so that I can go for Visa stamping.
Apparantly, this employer is causing some issues in giving me all my supporting documents.
My question: can I find some other employer and transfer my H1B1 and then go for stamping thru this new employer?
You experience, knowledge will be appreciated.

Of ourse you can always find a new employer!
However, I hear people talking about it all the time, there is no such thing as a transfer as if you could port your visa to a new company.
Whenever you want to switch jobs, you have to apply for a whole new H1.
Having one already does not make things faster or easier, except when you are already in the US. In this case, you can switch jobs as soon as you file the new H1, you don't have to wait for approval. However, there is a big risk:
what if the new H1 is denied? You already quit your previous employer and cannot work for the new one anymore...Then you are in big trouble.
In your situation, just file a new H1 with a new employer, that's it.
Your help/guidance is needed on this strange situation.

Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it. I actually tried to fill out the Forms DS 156 and DS 157 and got totally lost. The following is my background. I worked at the company A in US as an Electrical Engineer until May, 08 (the end of my 6 year H1). Then, I went back to Malaysia and worked on my family business as a store manager and business owner, selling electrical appliances. My PERM is currently pending over one year now. Accordingly, I got an approval for 1 year and 2 months on my H1. I will now come back to work at company A in US, starting March 5, 09 (the same US company that I worked until May, 08).
I have questions that I am unsure about the Forms DS 156 and DS 157 as the followings:
Form DS 156
- Question 28 (who will pay for your trip): does the trip need to be paid by the US Employer? Can I pay it myself? My concern is I am not sure if I have to pay it myself because of my H1 Status. Pls advise.
- Question 20 (Name and Address of Present Employer or School): I think this should be my current company. In this case, please advise if this should be Company A that I will be start working in March or my family business in Malaysia.
- Question 21 (Present Occupation): should this be Electrical Engineer or Store Manager (Business Owner) for my family business? I actually worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 8 years. I only worked on my family business as a Store manager (Business Owner) for one year. Please advise which one I should put.
- Question 25 (Name and Telephone Numbers of Person in US Who You Will Be Staying With or Visiting for Tourism or Business): I will go back to work at Company A in US, and my brother lives in the same area that I will be working. Hi I'm currently working as a strategist in an ad agency on OPT, which expires in June this year. My H1B application was denied because my major in college was French and the lawyer obviously wasn't able to establish the connection between my major and my work (although in my defense, my college was a liberal arts college, there weren't any specialized majors such as advertising, communications, etc. It's all about cultivating critical thinking, analytical skills, communication skill, which are all essential to working in advertising). So my question is, if in the future I want to come back to the US on an H1B visa, would that be possible? Is this issue with my major going to haunt me for at least 12 years (as in 3 years of working experience equal 1 year of college education)? Given that I do want to stay in the advertising industry, what are my options to solve this issue? Would getting an MBA with a marketing focus solve this?
PS: I understand another way to come back to the US by employment is via L1 visa. However, the prerequisite would be that I was already working in that company's overseas office, correct? So, if I received an offer from a company in the US without having worked in one of its overseas branch, I would still have to apply an H1B, correct?
