Immigration Voice is organizing a nationwide call-the-lawmakers drive. We request members to call each and every senator and congress member. This drive will precede the �Advocacy Day(s)� in Washington, DC and �Meet the lawmaker� drive in local districts. Members can use this phone call conversation with their local lawmaker offices to follow-up with lawmakers when they meet during the break just after the Memorial day.
Don�t miss this opportunity:
This is the perfect time to call the lawmakers. The bill needs a push via support from people like us and all lawmakers needs to be encouraged and urged to help us. There are indications that there will be lot of activity on immigration issues in both House and Senate after the Memorial day. We need to make those activities go in our favor and not die like the CIR bill in 2006 & 2007. Thus it is important to starting calling lawmakers, starting from the Senate members. In order to capitalize on this opportunity, it is very important that everyone calls every lawmaker of this country. The similar next opportunity will be in 2013. One of my friends received labor approval from Philly. His priority is October 2003, EB3, Non-RIR. Of course, my PD is from November 2001 and one other guy's is from August 2002. They were not processed, but my friend got a break from the drab BEC. Strange things happen in life. :)

We were getting ready to file 140 but never did. This is(or was) at the time top 5 market cap tech company, so I doubt they went out to make money on it. Its not Software related either and harder to match people to my LC. I was so close yet so far, in those days would have got my GC in less than a year after that point. 3 more LCs and 3 140s including one NIW, I am stuck here now.
You could say Murphy's law aptly applies to my immigration :)
"Everything that can Go Wrong will go wrong" and it did.
You can use that priority date if I140 was filed for you based on that and approved. Was I140 filed for you ? Or you just abandoned it while labor was pending ?? If the later, your employer must have made money when labor substitution was allowed :) (Making a BIG assumption here )

I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.

let me ask you this. did anyone from "leadership" call/email/contact you when you were inactive/busy with your life. if the leaders did not call/email you, how will you know if your help is needed. i don't see how its u'r fault
yep, they did, they called email me and asked me to contact other people and organize in a state chapter level. They are also helping on getting other people to help me mobilize members from a state chapter level. The point is the sense of urgency on how we need to move forward together. There is absolutely no room for confusion and I agree when people dont see results, there is always suspicion. But to build an organization from scratch is no easy task, we must recognize that and be respectful of people who do put their time and efforts to make things happen. We all must channelize our energy to making this successful. Everyone has their opinions and I respect that, but I am more interested on hearing solutions if you see there is no progress. Simply asking for change but knowing what change means to all of us will have no takers!

As far as your accusations about the Professor being anti-Indian NRI -- just do a google search on his research. He has done more for our community and motherland than almost anyone. His research has become the most commonly quoted in immigration and he has been helping build the image of India. The only thing he isn't doing is pretending that everything in India is perfect. He is not a stupid nationalist who lives in America yet makes up garbage about everything in India being so wonderful.
I have read many of his articles on Businessweek -- they have been very helpful to all of us.
If you understand this from his words then i can judge your IQ level.

Education level is well maintained and by entrance examination standard, its far above GRE level. Argue me on this. I have no problems with America or any American, infact I feel America is a great first world nation and I love being working/living here.
But this doesn't mean I will say any bulllshit & non-fact thing about my motherland.

2> How much money an applicant will bleed to move to US District Court?
3> If an applicant is working on EAD during all this farce, would he be able to continue working (atleast seeing paycheck) or will seat at home and bleed more?
4> if he looses EAD job, will CIS again punish him for not having a job?
5> Even after doing all these above, what if he accumulates 180 days of unlawful(?) presence? will he be deported for following the laws?
6> Last question: Are those undocumented workers are better positioned to get legal citizenship in long run than those legal skilled immigrants from retrogressed countries?

5> Even after doing all these above, what if he accumulates 180 days of unlawful(?) presence? will he be deported for following the laws?
6> Last question: Are those undocumented workers are better positioned to get legal citizenship in long run than those legal skilled immigrants from retrogressed countries?
(sorry for my language, but I can't understand the logic behind such a serious painful punishment to an innocent lawful AC-21 user without any fault of his own? is there justice? what do I not understand here? I am sure I am missing something. Please guide!!!)

Who knows, maybe Obama is preparing for CIR 2009 now. Before CIR he maybe planning to push all legal EB cases. Remember July 2007 fiasco happened in the backdrop of CIR 2007.

My guess is , The new president appears to be strict. So his question to the department very soon will be "What the heck you've been doing with all these cases not touched so far. So they want to do their part even before the big boss asks them. So that way the only issue will be lack of numbers, else everything is ready and look, we did our job. We're very efficient :)

The idea is very brillinat and this actually benefits the current IV core too.
Usually, people get tired of leading a non-profit, too much of ones personal resources go into it.
A new leadership will bring new energy in form of people getting a title and make them more accountable to needs.
Every current commitee(current IV core) actually is the backbone of a non-profit, cos they carry lots of assets, in terms of connections they have developed, money they have accumulated, goals that they have set, etc...
So the current IV core can support the new commitee and take their help to take the organisation forward.
And as I previously mentioned, the organisation does not or should not cease to exits once our goals are met, they should then be lead by other non-immigrants who will have a whole different set of issues.
usually, a non-profits exec committee is elected by its members.
for eg. the 2009 members (paid), can vote for the IV president and the committe.
it doesnt make sense for evey EB immigant to go and start a new non-for-profit.

nice to see good activity on the forum. Please hold on from holding any rally until you hear from IV core. We have some good synergy amongst or members in So Cal, lets plan a meeting in the coming weeks and decide on an action plan. I just applied for a mortgage from BOA. The loan officer did not recognize what AOS was and asked me for an H1B - which has expired.
I explained about AOS and EAD and told her I could give the I-485 receipt, and she took in my application.
But I'm worried that my loan will be denied after underwriting - my closing is on 5/26 and I probably will not hear from the bank until second week of may.
Does anyone know of Banks in MA that give loans to EAD?
