I ask the same question to my lawyer when i saw your posting about your I_485 without the employer letter. This is his response, I hope this will help answer your question.

Thanks for the information! We included copies of your recent paystubs to meet this requirement. In essence the only 'initial' evidence that is required to get the case accepted are the properly signed forms, the correct filing fee amount, and some information about the basis for the filing. In your case that is the approved labor cert and info about the I-140.
If the Immigration Examiner wants any additional evidence about your eligibility he or she will issue a request for evidence. However in my experience the employer letter is very optional. I don't include it in about half of the cases I file and I have not received a request for it either.
I'll let you know when we get the receipt notices - probably not for another two weeks.

The issue of GOD and religion has been discussed ad nauseum by many great thinkers and philosophers (Spinoza, Voltaire, Hume, Russel etc.). Most of us do not read their opinions and try to broaden our knowledge. We never get beyond what our parents taught us about GOD and religion. What is worse still is that the allegorical descriptions in religious texts are now treated as facts and we often end up arguing over these as well.
Having said that, there is nothing wrong in believing in GOD. There is also nothing wrong if someone is not convinced about the existence of GOD. There are valid philosophical arguments for both cases. Lack of mutual respect and failing to see others point of view is what is causing this rift.

Hopefully technology and prosperity will help buffer the rigid often disilusioned teachings of religions or atleast lead the future generations to a common religion/god/gods rather than the present kabillion varieties.

I think, we should all follow this lawsuit closely...if it gets accepted for trial in Illinois, I am seriously considering filing one myself in California...on similar grounds..
There are several attorneys who would be willing to file a lawsuit no cost with the understanding that any monetary benefits if won, be split with them....
Likewise, I think, others should stand up and consider filing separate law suits in different states....the more law suits get filed, the more media/people/congressmen attention this issue will get...

Hi Guys I'm pretty new in all this and i've been following this discussion and perhaps someone can help me.... here is the question.... Do I have a visa number available ?? If so why am I waiting that long??

i'm EB3 world - got my labor pd is 05/2002, and I concurrent filled I-485/I-140 on 05/2003.... already made 2 fingerprints..... I-140 was approved on 12/2005 (TSC).... i renew my EAD every year since I filled.
if what you guys are saying is correct that in order to accept the I-485 to be filled USCIS need to have a visa number available to the applicant.... y am I still waiting?? :confused:

When you filed your I-485, there were VISA numbers, which in theory could have been used to grant you GC( I-485 approval ). But, they didn't act quick enough on your case to approve it, instead they worked on other cases and approved those, meanwhile, they got thousands more request for GC(Visa number ), and they started giving it based on priority date.
Had they known there will be thousands of applications of older priority date, they wouldn't have accepted your application, as they can not approve it. But they didn't know, hence accepted the application. Now, it would just sit there till more numbers are availble and everybody who has priority date before you gets GC.
Everybody who has priority date prior to your priority date is technically ahead of you, even though they have not been able to file their I-485 yet, hence VISA number would go to them first :D
Anybody who hasn't yet filed 485, willl have to wait till the VISA bulletin passed thier PD.

Its been 8 yrs, 2 recessions, 3 layoffs, marriage, baby, home, an expensive car, and lots of ego.
And, I am still the same!!!!
8 yrs of work, and i grow to become a PM (do my PMP and have a vision to become a program manager some day), and get an assignment at a very good financial firm and with a very good pay per hour as a contractor. I look at my life and go, now that i have what i want, i can go ahead and get more (i go back and think about how i initially came to the country with just 90$ in my pocket and on a H1). So, i start planning about buying a house.
Dont buy a house!!!!!
Parallelly, there is a discussion every where about housing bubble, and how good it is to buy a home now, and "now or never". While others at bay are pleading not to buy a home, because it is about to explode. The ego says, you are invincible. So go ahead. So I do.
Ego!!!!
I look at my 9 month old daughter and say, "she needs an own home and lots of place to run around and play", and not an silly apartment. Afterall, it is your daughter, genius! So, i bring all my money together, leaving almost nothing for reserves, thinking of the job i have and how good i am with the job, and finally purchase the home. Real estate agent milks me and I never see it coming though my wife suggests the same. Issues logistically at closing and some stress and all of it comes to a positive end in about 3 hours.
Stroke!!!
Finally I take the keys, I come home and put the keys in my daughters hands, and my new manager from work from last week calls. Phone is ringing. (The manager that brought me on board 2 months ago leaves the position, and i kept wondering why). I am smiling as i take the call thinking this guy is going to congratulate me, about the purchase of the home. But, 4 minutes later I am shaking and its sweat and i drop like a fly in the chair.
Wife looks at me and says whats wrong? I tell her, I dont have a job any more, and it ends in 2 weeks. For 8 yrs, a number of times I did think about buying a home, and I have always kept away from it for the fear of losing the job, but now (well done EGO!), and I have a home. That too, it had to happen the same day that i closed on the home. I tell myself this is a long time coming.

So, while being on bench and employer paying nada, I try to find jobs with all my previous managers, sr.vps, directors who I used to stick with, and nada...no one has a job for me. Start using credit cards and the little reserve for mortgage payments.

Dont eat out, dont spend much, cook at home, cant think of fancy trips, but still have food to eat with hard earned money, and praying for all those who are
not able to make ends meet.

One guy dared to put a message "You don't have plan". That person even didn't see that I just tossed an idea to see if people are comfortable for flower campaign. This can get success as a mass only. I didn't tell anytime that I have an exact plan. That was step 2.
